Want To Be A Marketing Samurai?

What does being a Marketing Samurai mean then?

How would it feel if whenever you wanted to enter a niche, or find out more about your niche, you could within moments be at the heart of that information.

This is best explained by example. For example, let us think of an example, say “shoulder-pain”.  Thanks to Frank Kern, I think the Dog training niche has been over-done :-) . Using Market samurai, I can find the following for “shoulder pain”:

  • keywords: search keywords and synonyms
  • organic results which can then be filtered for SEO traffic , and phrase to broad matching. I can also identify trends of each keyword
  • adwords: the number of clicks for a no. one slot in google for any particular keyword, the click through rate and the cost per click
  • competition: the number of pages gloabally that mention the keyword, also provides local (any country specified) results too, the title competition, the ratio of title to page competition and the number of advertisers bidding on the keyword
  • commerciality: the indicator of buying power associated with a keyword, the adwords value of the keyword and the SEO value.

So, from this first page, I can find relevant keywords, sort for low competition, assess the ratio of phrase to broad matching and trends.

The next section I would need to look at would be the Seo Competition. Having found the keyword that I wish to focus on, whether it be for a new site or a new post, I can identify the top ten sites for that keyword. Immediately, I can see whether Amazon, Wikipaedia or any of the other large portals are present. I can also see if there are any web 2.0 properties, and can take a look at the competition in general.

The best bit about this tool is that in this SEO Competition section, I can identify which ones will be my potential competition and what I will have to do to compete against them as  I am given the following pieces of information:

  • Domain Age
  • Page Rank
  • Domain name
  • Indexed pages
  • Backlinks to that page
  • Backlinks to the domain
  • Backlinks: edu and gov
  • DMOZ listing
  • Yahoo listing
  • SEO factors: whether keyword is in title, url, description, header

Even better, for each domain I can then identify where their links came from and what PR they were. I can also get identify:

  • Google Trends
  • Alexa information
  • Quantcast information
  • Anchor text analysis
  • Whois information
  • Fuller PR analysis

so I also obtain invaluable demographic information.

Is this having an effect?

So I chose “shoulder pain”, found that “rotator cuff” generated the largest number of adwords clicks a day. So I did a separate search on “rotator cuff”. This identified “rotator cuff pain” which then led me to the following keyword that seemed pretty good:

“Rotator cuff pain” which has 266 searches a day, 12,400 competing pages, phrase-matched. The value is $48 ranked no.1 on google.  SEO Competition research tells me that this term is dominated by the bigger portal sites but there are 2 youtube videos so this could be a possible marketing angle. Market Samurai, through the Monetization section, tells me that there are several products on amazon that I could sell, and Clickbank has a few digital products which has also given me some more ideas for keywords.

I looked at the Find Content section which provides me with options of looking through major article sites, blogs, youtubes and news sites for sources of content and also to see what people are writing about “Rotator Cuff Pain”. In the Publish Content I could link in my wordpress blog or wordpress direct account and then the last section (at the moment) tells me where I can find the best backlinks sources for the keyword “Rotator cuff Pain”.

So as all the sections are inter-related, I end up with as much information that I need to get going!. The final decider is the domain name and there is a section for that too! Here I am told which domains are available, the ranking of importance in google and the ability to purchase. If I wanted I could open a DomainFace account and then find an old domain to help my marketing which would give a major extra boost.
